Laramie sits at 7,200 feet on the Laramie Plains, a windswept stretch of Wyoming that's been home to ranchers for generations. When the university came, it brought students. The Buckhorn became the place where these two worlds collide. A ranch hand in dusty boots might be shooting pool next to a philosophy major. Nobody cares. That's the beauty of it.
It's loud. It's crowded on weekends. The pool tables are always in use, and there's usually a wait. The jukebox plays a mix of country and whatever the college kids are into. The lighting is dim, the floors are sticky, and nobody's here to impress anyone. It's a dive in the best sense of the word - unpretentious, welcoming, and real.
