Stories Told

The Mint Bar is Wyoming. Not a replica, not a tribute - the real thing. Since 1907, this Sheridan institution has been serving cowboys, ranchers, and anyone else who walks through those swinging doors. The saddle bar stools aren't a gimmick - they're a tradition.

The Story

When the Mint opened its doors in 1907, Sheridan was a cattle town at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains. Cowboys would ride in after months on the range, tie up their horses, and belly up to the bar. The saddle stools were practical - these men spent their lives in the saddle, so why would they want to sit any other way? The bullet holes in the tin ceiling? Those came later, during the wilder years when arguments were settled differently.

What to Expect

Walk in and you're stepping back in time. The original back bar is still there - ornate woodwork, vintage mirrors, and bottles that have been poured from for over a century. The lighting is dim, the floors are worn, and the jukebox plays country. Real country. The crowd is a mix of locals, ranchers in town for supplies, and travelers who heard about this place and had to see it for themselves.

What to Order

Whiskey. This is whiskey country. The Mint has been pouring the same brands for decades - nothing fancy, just honest spirits. If you want a beer, they've got cold domestics on tap. Don't ask for a craft cocktail - you'll get a look. The prices are fair, the pours are generous, and the bartenders have heard every story you can imagine.
