The Story
The Stockman has been a Missoula institution for decades, surviving the ebb and flow of college generations. Originally a working-class bar serving the stockyards (hence the name), it evolved into the ultimate college dive when the University of Montana grew. The regulars changed, but the spirit stayed the same - unpretentious, loud, and always a good time.
What to Expect
It's dark, it's loud, and it's packed on weekends. Pool tables in the back, a long bar up front, and a jukebox that somehow always plays the right song at the right time. The crowd is a mix of college students, townies, and the occasional confused tourist. Don't expect table service or craft cocktails - this is a beer-and-shot kind of place.
